The dimming efficiency of LED lighting fixtures depends on the dimming power supply, so how to choose the appropriate LED dimming power supply?
 
Constant current source or constant voltage source dimming power supply?
 
When choosing the dimming power supply, whether to choose the constant voltage power supply or the constant current power supply, first confirm is the constant voltage circuit or the constant current circuit, if it is impossible to confirm the light source circuit, you can judge according to the label parameters of the lamp. If the input voltage is marked as DC12V/24V, it is a constant voltage lamp. The constant voltage dimming power can be selected for dimming. The common constant voltage lamps are: LED lamp strip, lamp strip, LED guardrils, diffuse emission light source, etc.
 
In the case that the light source circuit cannot be confirmed, the output current of the lamp can be checked, such as 600mA, the output voltage is the range value, such as 12-20V, it is a constant-current lamp, constant-current power supply can be selected for dimming, the common constant-current lamps are: down light, spot light, ceiling lamp, panel lamp, etc..
 
Common dimming methods are: triac, 0/1-10V, DALI, PWM, DMX512, RESISTORS
 
Triac
By cutting the AC current at the input end of the power supply to change the output voltage and current, to achieve dimming. The advantage of this dimming mode is that the wiring is simple, do not need another wiring, only need to string a dimming switch or system on the input end can be dimming. SCR dimming has two dimming ways, front and back, and most of the SCR power series can be compatible with front and back edges, which perfectly matches the vast majority of dimmers in Europe and North America, and the dimming effect is very good.

0-10 v / 1-10 v dimmer
Generally on the market are compatible with resistor dimming, while Yashoda is 0-10V/1-10V, compatible with resistor and 10V PWM, and TRIAC 5-in-1 dimming.
 
DALI dimmer
Dali dimming is a digital dimming method based on Dali communication protocol.
 
PWM signal output
By changing the width of the pulse signal to change the light output, that is, change the duty cycle to adjust the luminance of the lamp. PWM dimming although occupancy is a pulse signal, and the pulse signal can also be a voltage signal, usually with 3 v, 5 v, 10 v pulse voltage signal, for example, the research of masters of 5-in-1 dimming power supply series, is 10 v pulse voltage signal, because some lamps and lanterns and dimmers on market is need to have PWM output power through PWM signal to adjust the output, The dimming mode is SCR and so on.
 
DMX512 dimmer
DMX512 dimming, in practical application, DMX512 dimming way, is generally the power supply and controller design together, DMX512 controller control 8~24 lines, directly drive the RGB line of LED lamps, control system to achieve R,G,B, W each 256 levels of gray, to achieve full color tone light. DMX512 dimming simplifies the lighting control mode, provides the possibility for large-scale lighting control, and is more suitable for the occasion where lamps are concentrated together, such as stage lights and architectural landscape lights.
 
RESISTORS
