What is an LED Driver?
2024-06-14 09:05:55

LED Drivers are the significant module that supply needful electrical energy, and control the flow of power. Figure out the fundamental principle of LED is very important to comprehend why they are crucial for the operation of LED system.

An LED driver, also known as LED power supply, is an equipment that converts upcoming electrical energy into suitable voltage and current needed for LEDs to function optimally. It collaborates with various LED components, such as rectifiers(AC to DC converters), and inverters (DC to AC converters). LED Drivers like a bridge connecting electrical source and LED lightings, making sure that they can receive the appropriate power levels to prevent damage.

LEDs operate on low-voltage DC(direct current) power. however, the voltage supplied by electrical grid is normally AC (alternating current) at a very high level. LED drivers make a big difference on converting the high level voltage AC power into the low level voltage DC power needed for the LEDs. This conversion process is necessary to prevent LED from fault, voltage fluctuation, for providing a stable power source. The main function of the LED driver is to regulate the voltage and current offered to LEDs. Additionally, LED driver can incorporate many useful features such as thermal control system, surge protection dimming and LED color temperature changing.
